Introduction
Welcome to Walmer Science College.
Walmer Science College caters for students of all abilities. At
one end of the academic continuum we seek to educate able young
people to move at a fast pace to a high level of achievement and
at the other end we apply the special skills and resources we
have acquired to assist those with learning or social
difficulties. Wherever on this continuum a student happens to
be, we endeavour to stimulate the individual to maximum academic
and social development.
Walmer Science College is an 11-19 school. At the age of 16, it
is expected that most students will carry on with their
education as members of the Sixth Form. All students follow
courses that meet the requirements of the National Curriculum.
By working in partnership with other local schools and further
education colleges, students aged 14-19 will be able to study a
wide range of courses, both academic and vocational. As a
Science College, there will be an additional focus on science,
mathematics and information technology.
At Walmer Science College we believe in: honesty, respect and
care for each other. Learning is organised in an emotionally
relaxed, but stimulating atmosphere, and we expect students to
be self-disciplined and keen to do well. We value our students
as people in their own right, taking care to ensure that all
needs are recognised and that student welfare and care is
paramount.
Young people benefit most if there is a partnership between
school, parent and student. We welcome parental involvement in
all aspects of college life.
Walmer Science College is a vibrant community in which students
and staff live, learn and achieve great things together. I hope
you enjoy looking at our website and find it informative and
interesting.
