Making waves, changing lives

Walmer Science College International Food Evening will take place on Wednesday, 22nd May between 5pm and 6.30pm. Displays and food from around the world will be designed, cooked and prepared by our KS3 students. Friends, parents, grandparents and teachers are warmly welcomed to attend.
Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
I am sure you will have heard about our exciting day when we welcomed Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal to the school to open our new Maritime Studies Centre. Her Royal Highness arrived by helicopter to begin what was a really lovely afternoon with the students. The Princess chatted with year 10 Maritime students who began the course in September. As a keen sailor herself, she was delighted to hear of their adventures learning to sail in Dover Harbour. She was interested to know how the students intended to use the skills they learn in Maritime Studies. Several students spoke to her of their wishes to work in marine engineering, in the Merchant and Royal Navy and on cruise ships. She was impressed by the wide range of aspirations.
The Princess also met year 7 students who have just begun their time sailing. Whilst on dry land they begin to learn about the Maritime industry by studying the work of Dover Harbour Board. They also showed the Princess how they learn to tie the knots they need for the dinghy sailing.
